A crash spilled a semi-truck load of potatoes all over a South Carolina road Wednesday morning.

It happened when a car ran a red light in Aiken, South Carolina, near Augusta, Georgia.

Workers spend hours cleaning 80,000 pounds of potatoes from the roadway, before they baked in the South Carolina heat.

The driver of the car that ran the light was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The average American eats over four pounds of potatoes every year, according to the Northern Plains Potato Growers Association.
