Tallahassee officer shaves homeless man’s beard to help him get job

A heartwarming moment between a police officer and a homeless man was caught on camera in Tallahassee over the weekend.

A post on the Tallahassee Police Department Facebook page says a woman saw an officer outside of a gas station shaving a homeless man’s beard. Once he was done, the woman caught up with him in the store and offered to buy him a cold drink because he was hot from being outside.

The woman says she got to talking with the officer and found out he had been at a McDonald’s restaurant next door when the homeless man walked in looking for a job. When the man was told he wouldn’t be hired unless he shaved his beard, the officer decided to help him out.

The officer said he went and got some clippers and shaved the man’s beard for him so he could go back to the restaurant and get a job.

The mother of the woman who witnessed the heartwarming act shared a picture that her daughter took on Facebook Sunday.

“I am so proud to live in a community where our deputies and officers are such wonderful people,” she wrote in her post.

The department then shared the picture, followed by a video. Both posts have more than a thousand likes, shares and comments.
