KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A woman was hit in the back of the head, by what appears to be a ricocheted bullet at a West Knox County shooting range.

34-year-old Gwen Schablik was hit in the back of the head and taken by Rural Metro to UT Medical Center, where she is expected to make a full recovery.

“Everyone was there to make sure she was ok first and foremost…I was glad she was ok,” said Michael Belcher, a person was insdie the building at the time of the shooting.

The incident happened at the TACSOG Armory Range off of Dutchtown Road.

The Major Crimes Unit of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office is reviewing video surveillance to determine where the round may have come from. No foul play is suspected and it appears to be an accident.

“That’s why handgun safety is very important and you need to understand how to use your weapon and what’s required of you at any range that you’re at,” said Belcher.
