Woman hit by train in Knoxville, becomes trapped underneath

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A woman was taken to the hospital with severe injuries after she was hit by a train in Knoxville.

The Knoxville Police Department says they were called to the area of Randolph Street at Brigham Avenue around 6:30 p.m. where they found a woman trapped under a train locomotive.

Officers called in the Knoxville Fire Department and a Rural/Metro ambulance to help rescue her. She was taken to UT Medical Center for what are described as severe injuries.

Based on the preliminary investigation and witness statements, Knoxville Police Department said the woman jumped out in front of the train and laid down across the tracks.
