KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knoxville Police Department is investigating after a woman’s body was found in a wooded area in North Knoxville.

Officers were called to the area of Davanna Street and W. Oldham Avenue Thursday afternoon around 5 p.m. for a possible body. Officers were then directed to a wooded area along Davanna Street where they found the body.

Police say the preliminary investigation indicates the woman died of natural causes and had been deceased for about a week. No obvious signs of foul play were discovered.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
