Fulton scored 13 points in overtime to rally past Mitchell 44-41 in the Class AA State Quarterfinal on Wednesday at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro.
The Falcons, who did not reach 50 points for just the second time this season, relied on their defense once again. Wednesday’s game marked the 12th time that Fulton held an opponent under 50 points this season.
Trey Davis led the Falcons with 18 points while Edward Lacey chipped in 14. Deshawn Page, a Marshall football commit, managed just two points but picked up a team-high 10 rebounds.
In a game where both teams combined for three 3-pointers, free throws proved to be the key. Fulton went 18-31 from the line while Mitchell shot just 10 free throws, making four.
Fulton advances to meet East Nashville (26-6) in a State Semifinal matchup on Friday at 11:00 a.m. ET.
