Knoxville, TENN. (WATE) – With just three home games left in the regular season, the Knoxville Ice Bears gave their fans a show on Saturday night.
Knoxville scored 3 goals in the second period on their way to a 5-0 blowout win against the Evansville Thunderbolts. With Eliot Grauer scoring less than two minutes into the game, it looked like the Ice Bears were poised for an offensive explosion, but Knoxville was stifled for the rest of the period. Kevin Swider scored his second goal of the season 4 minutes into the second and the rout was underway.
Evan Neugold scored 2 goals, while Grauer added a second in the final period. Knoxville controlled the puck the majority of the game, but Troy Davenport stopped all 15 shots he faced.
Knoxville has 64 points on the year, and sits fifth in the SPHL standings with two game to play, three points behind Huntsville.
They’ll host Pensacola (70 points, 2nd place in the standings) on Friday and Saturday night to close out the regular season.
