COLLEGE STATION, Texas (WATE) – No. 11 Tennessee, who was the 2-seed in the SEC Tournament, fell to Auburn 2-0 in the second round on Thursday.
The Tigers, a 10-seed, used RBI base hits in the second and fifth innings to upset the Lady Vols. Tennessee starting pitcher Ashley Rogers went six innings, giving up six hits and one earned run to go with five strikeouts.
Tennessee was limited to five hits, leaving six runners on base.
With the win, Auburn becomes the lowest seed in tournament history to advance to the semifinal round. The Tigers will take on 6-seed Florida Friday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
Tennessee (39-14) returns to Knoxville and awaits its fate for an NCAA Regional.
