Former Tennessee athletic director John Currie is one of three finalists for the vacant athletic director position at the University of Maryland.
According to Baltimore Sun reporter Don Markus, Currie, along with Temple AD Patrick Kraft and acting Maryland AD Damon Evans are the finalists.
Currie served as the athletic director at Tennessee from February 2017 through December 2017. He was fired in the midst of a troubled search to replace former football coach Butch Jones. The university reached a $2.5 million settlement with Currie in March.
Currie most recently taught a course at Columbia University in the school’s sports management program.
Maryland’s previous athletic director, Kevin Anderson, resigned in April after eight years at the university.
