Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs make good on losing his bet on who would win the Tennessee-Kentucky game earlier — and he’s got a new bet for this weekend’s game.
Jacobs was in Lexington on Wednesday to pay up on a wager with Lexington’s mayor on which team would win in the meeting on Feb. 16 in Lexington.
A bet’s a bet! Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs is in Lexington and ready to wear blue and white. He lost a bet with Lex Mayor Linda Gorton when UK beat TN on the hardwood at Rupp. pic.twitter.com/p8G92ITuNn— WUKY (@wuky) February 27, 2019
The Vols lost 86-69 and Jacobs made good on his wager by buying lunch and wearing a Kentucky blue jersey, size XXXL.
We’re in Lexington today to pay off our friendly wager with Mayor Gorton following UT’s loss to UK a couple of weeks ago. UT may have lost the first battle but we are far from done. Double or nothing…? pic.twitter.com/x1JIbG9vtN— Glenn Jacobs (@GlennJacobsTN) February 27, 2019
The teams meet again on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Knoxville. We know who Jacobs will be rooting for. Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton said for Saturday’s game the terms of the bet have changed. No lunch this time, but rather a donation to the winning team’s local children’s hospital, she said.
I must admit, it feels good to win and to see Knox County Mayor @GlennJacobsTN in that wonderful shade of UK blue! But, in all seriousness, it was great to meet with Mayor Jacobs and talk about ways in which our two communities can work together. #WeAreUk #BBN pic.twitter.com/CrY8itU0YY— Mayor Linda Gorton (@MayorGorton) February 27, 2019
