With a potential NCAA Tournament bid on the line, Tennessee outscored LSU by 10 in the second half to hold off the Tigers 69-66 in the second round of the SEC Tournament on Thursday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
The Lady Vols sophomore duo, Evina Westbrook and Rennia Davis, combined to score 39 points. Westbrook totaled a team-high 20 points, going 9-14 from the field while Davis added 19. It was Westbrook’s 10th game of scoring 20 points or more this season and her first since a 24 point performance on Jan. 24 against Arkansas.
Mimi Collins, who totaled 10 or more points six times this season, added a key 10 points against LSU.
Tennessee trailed the Tigers 35-28 at halftime but scored 41 points in the second half, including 22 in the fourth quarter.
Tennessee will turn to a matchup against top-seed Mississippi State (27-2, 15-1 SEC) on Friday at Noon in the quarterfinals. The Lady Vols fell to the Bulldogs 91-63 in Starkville, Miss. on Feb. 10.
