KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Rennia Davis scored a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds to help Tennessee power past Florida 67-50 Thursday at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The win gives the Lady Vols back-to-back wins for the first time since Jan. 3.
“Each game’s a foundation for us,” head coach Holly Warlick said. “We can’t do anything about what we did in the past. We’ve obviously learned from it but we’ve got to move forward and I think they have. I think they learned to focus a lot better, I think they’re practicing a lot harder. They’ve really come together on gamedays and playing well together and that’s what it takes.
After missing all 13 of its 3-point attempts against LSU on Sunday, Tennessee managed to connect on four against the Gators. Two of those came from Evina Westbrook as the point guard totaled 8 points and 7 assists. Cheridene Green continued her hot stretch, scoring 15 points to go with 10 rebounds.
“I think we’re playing well as a team,” Green said. “We’re just following the gameplan, executing and doing whatever we can.”
Tennessee will be on the road for its next two games. The Lady Vols take a quick trip to Vanderbilt on Sunday before traveling to Mississippi State Feb. 10.
