COLUMBIA, S.C. (WATE) – No. 1 Tennessee tied a program record on Tuesday, winning its 15th consecutive game by rolling past South Carolina 92-70 in Columbia.
The 15 wins in a row is the most for the program since 1917. With the win, the Vols also finished a perfect 8-0 in January, a first since 1945.
The self-named ‘peanut butter and jelly’ duo of Admiral Schofield and Grant Williams led the way against the Gamecocks. Schofield, who had shot a combined 11-of 42 from the field and 2-of-15 from 3-point range in his last three games, scored a team-high 24 points while Williams added 23. Each National Player of the Year candidate also added nine rebounds.
Jordan Bone totaled 19 points and nine assists while Lamonte Turner chipped in 13 in his second consecutive start.
Tennessee (19-1, 7-0 SEC) travels to Texas A&M Saturday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
