Fayetteville, AR. (WATE) – Tony Vitello’s homecoming couldn’t have gone much worse for Tennessee.

The 18th ranked Vols (31-14, 9-12 SEC) were swept by the 6th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks (34-11, 15-6 SEC) Sunday by a score of 4-3 in extra innings.

Vitello spent four years in Fayetteville as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Arkansas before being heading to Rocky Top in 2017.

Tennessee gave up 26 runs over the first two games of the series, but Zach Linginfelter limited Arkansas early on Sunday, striking out nine before being lifted in the 5th inning with Tennessee trailing 2-0.

Redmond Walsh fired off three scoreless innings, but with Tennessee leading 3-2 in the 9th, gave up a solo home run to right field by Christian Franklin tied the game up and sent it to extras.

With two on in the bottom of the 10th, Casey Opitz delivered the walk-off single to left field to complete the sweep and send the Vols packing.

Tennessee returns home for a weekend series against Missouri starting Friday.
