Tennessee powers past Mississippi State 83-76 at SEC Tournament

No. 8 Tennessee powered past Mississippi State 83-76 on Friday in the SEC Tournament quarterfinal at Bridgestone Arena.

Admiral Schofield, who scored a game-high 18 points aginst Mississippi State in his final game at Thompson Boling Arena last week, put up another game-high on the Bulldogs with 20 in Nashville. The senior forward was one of five in double figures for Tennessee. Grant Williams and Kyle Alexander added 16 points each, Jordan Bone chipped in 14 while Jordan Bowden had 10.

Bone, who leads the SEC with six assists per game, connected on a nine against the Bulldogs. Lamonte Turner added eight more for the Vols to help Tennessee get to 21 assists in the game.

Tennessee scored a season-low two points from the free throw line before entering the bonus with less than two minutes left in the game. The Vols finished 10-15. 

Tennessee advances to a semifinals showdown with Kentucky on Saturday at 3 p.m. EST. The Wildcats have won their last 13 SEC Tournament games after running past Alabama 73-55 on Friday.
