Vols linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. announced on Twitter on Thursday evening he is transferring to another school.
Kirkland said he is using his last two years of eligibility as a graduate transfer to pursue his graduate degree at another university while playing football.
“Tennessee will always hold a special place in my heart,” Kirkland said. “These moments have been priceless and I’m a better player and man from this experience.”
Kirkland, a junior, had an injury-plagued career at Tennessee, missing six games in 2016 due to an ankle injury and all of 2017 due to a knee injury. He’ll be able to play immediately at a new program.
