Vols face Hawkeyes in Taxslayer Bowl

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Tennessee Vols will take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Taxslayer Bowl, formerly known as the Gator Bowl.

The game is set for January 2nd, 3:20 p.m. in Jacksonville, Florida.

It will be the Vols 50th bowl game appearance, but it’s their first appearance in a bowl game since 2010.

Tennessee went 6-6 this year, with a big boost from quarterback Joshua Dobbs after he took over for the injured Justin Worley.

The Vols have played the Hawkeyes twice, and are 1-1 against them. The last time was in 1987.

The university has also announced they will sell TaxSlayer Bowl T-shirts at the University Center and University Commons VolShop. You can also purchase them online.
